Monday 9/21/20: Review Quiz + Mix and Match Photo Project!

Objectives:
-review rules of composition quiz for better understanding
-apply more than one rule of composition into photographs
-use symbolism to express a mood in your photography

Mix and Match Photo Project Due: by Thursday 9/24/20

You have practiced using rule of thirds, natural framing, and fill the frame in your photos. You will now need to practice using the all of them!  But, here’s the extra challenge for this photo project: you need to use more than one rule in every photo + express a particular mood/feeling…

Step 1: Pick a few moods and brainstorm ways you can express them visually (imagery, symbolic objects, composition, body language, outfits/costumes, camera angles, lighting, color, etc.).  Then write out or sketch out some ideas you can try.

Step 2: Decide which two moods you want to go with and now choose what 2 rules of composition you can use for each one.  YOU CANNOT REPEAT RULES OR MOODS. (You may also choose other moods that are not on the list!)

For example:

photo #1: simplicity + rule of thirds + lonely

photo #2: symmetry + leading lines + empowered

Complete Steps 1 & 2 by tomorrow 9/22/20

Step 3: photo shoot time!  I suggest you take about 10+ photos for each of your ideas so you have many options to choose from.

Step 4: Choose your best photo from each idea and edit on Snapseed or your in-mobile editing features.

Step 5: Submit both photo files to the Teams assignment: “Mix and Match Photo Project”.  In the Word document, list what 2 rules and 1 mood you used in each photo and explain how you did so.

Step 6: THEN, choose your favorite ONE to upload to our class Padlet gallery wall!  Include your name when you upload to Padlet but do not mention what rules or mood you are demonstrating!
