Smartphone Photography: Capturing in B&W

We will go outside together as a class to photograph for this project. There are three parts to this project: capturing, blog post, share on gallery wall.

Part I

  • Change your camera format to “most compatible”. (Or just make sure “high efficiency” is NOT checked.)
  • Set your smartphone camera app to a black and white filter (see image from yesterday’s post or ask for assistance).
  • Select one other smartphone photography tip from your previous assignment: go abstract, look for strong lighting contrast, different aspect ratio (like square), switch on rule of thirds grid, treat phone like a camera (horizontal using both hands).
  • Capture at least 10 different photos. Take your time composing your shots. Consider other perspectives and angles.
  • Upon our return to our classroom, upload your photos to your OneDrive account, import with a charger cable, or email them to yourself.

Part II

  1. Create a NEW POST on your blog titled, “Smartphone Photography: Capturing in B&W”.
  2.  Insert a photo GALLERY with your 10 photos but put your best 5 at the top (see screenshots below)Change the Link To: Media File, Columns: 5, and Size: Medium (if you shot in square format, you can leave it as thumbnail).
  3. Add a reflection paragraph telling me how you felt about capturing in this manner + which was your favorite photo that you captured and why.
  4. Publish, view your post, copy the link, and attach in Teams!

Part III

  1. Select your favorite photo to share with the class on this Padlet “galley wall”: B&W Smartphone Photography Gallery Wall
  2. Click plus sign (+) circle icon on the bottom right.
  3. Include your first name, last initial AND your class period in the subject field.
  4. Use the upload icon (first icon) to add your photo.
  5. Click Publish.
  6. Take a screenshot of your Padlet post using the Snipping Tool and attach in the same assignment in Teams.
  7. Click Turn In. Yay, good job!
